Statement of Faith

We believe:
  • The Bible is the only inspired and infallible, authoritative Word of God.
  • There is one God eternally existent in three persons: God the Father; God the Son; and God the Holy Ghost.
  • In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, and His future return to earth.
  • In the fall of man, the need of regeneration by the operation of the Holy Spirit based on grace.
  • The redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides healing of the human body in answer to believing prayer.
  • In the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy life.
  • In the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: The one to eternal life, and the other to eternal death.
Expectations of Students
Students attending River of Life Christian School are expected to practice and grow in Christian character.  This includes all areas of life, especially respect and obedience to authority, physical and moral cleanliness, and abstinence from things harmful to the body, mind, and society (i.e. drugs, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, gambling devices, the occult, vulgarity, lying, stealing, cheating, pre-marital sex).  Students are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that is not offensive to other Christians.

We want our students' lives to show that they are choosing to put Christ first.  Students must strive to avoid the very appearance of evil.  RLCS is not a refuge for students who will not cooperate, have had previous behavioral problems, or will not apply themselves academically.

The above criteria are not only an assessment for admission but are part of the basis for the ongoing evaluation of student progress

History River of Life Christian School & Childcare
In the fall of 1976, Payette Assembly of God opened Payette Christian Academy, grades 1-11, in the basement of Payette Assembly.  It operated under the sponsorship and general guidance of a school committee and the church board.  In September 1977, twelfth grade was added.  In 1979, 15 acres was purchased and construction began on the current building.   The new building was completed and occupied in the winter of 1980.  In September 1984, Kindergarten was added.  December of 1990 brought serious water damage to the interior of the school resulting in extensive remodeling.  In September of 1991, a 4-year-old Preschool program was added.  Beginning August 30th of 1999, Payette Christian Child Center began.  The Child Center cooperates with the Preschool & Kindergarten program, providing daycare and before/after school care.  It is the philosophy of the Child Center to NOT be a babysitting service but to teach children; therefore, TV is only used at naptime with activities for fun and learning planned in its place.

In November of 2001, Payette Assembly of God became River of Life Christian Center and moved to the school gymnasium with the vision of combining our resources and accomplishing more.  Payette Christian Academy and Child Center was renamed River of Life Christian School & Child Care.  Also in 2002, we purchased 56 new computers upon which students in grades 4-12 work.  It is our desire to continue to grow and meet the needs of the Christian community from birth through adulthood.

Purpose of River of Life Christian School:
"Fulfilling the Great Commission by preparing individuals for life and eternity."

Purpose of River of Life Christian Child Care:
"To provide quality, Biblical early childhood education and childcare in a positive, Christ-centered environment."

With these purposes in mind, our prayer is that: Under God's direction and by His power, RLCS/RLCC will provide a truly Christian atmosphere and education which, in conjunction with the influence of the Christian home and church, will result in producing Christian young people who are educated and confident of who they are and whose they are; stable, confident young people who are responsible and disciplined, and who are, by choice, God-willed and Spirit-controlled.

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.  These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts." (Deut. 6:5-7 NIV)

"Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.  Then you will be prosperous and successful." (Joshua 1:8 NIV)
